We go to great measures to source the finest ingredients and produce from local growers and suppliers. We believe in supporting local businesses and welcome the high quality produce that help to make everything on our menu shine.
We strive to provide amazing food and drinks in an environment where you feel relaxed and welcome both inside the restaurant and outside in our large patio area.
The Bicycle name we are often asked
Of how this choice could come to pass
My father is the reason why
A cycling guy in years gone by
Before the kids began to multiply
Glasgow, John O Groats and Pittenween
Through all the places in between
Leather saddle, heavy bike
Not too much that I would like
Scottish weather, rough terrain
Your bum would never feel the same
A fitting tribute you may say
With all our hearts we would agree
A great man who made up laugh
Who led us down life’s long path
When people say a strange pub name
Please let them know who is to blame
In memory of my dear old dad
We miss him so which makes us sad
But we remember more happy times
Look to heaven and feel just fine
The Bicycle would never be
If it wasn’t for old Peter D
The Bicycle was named in memory of Brian's late father Peter D who we miss very much.
The Bicycle opened its doors in September 2014 by husband and wife team Brian and Kerry.
Our aim is to create great tasting non pretentious food using the best produce while providing excellent friendly service in beautiful surroundings in the heart of the Essex countryside.
We really care about our customers dining experience. It matters to us that they love not just their visit, but every time they return.
BRIAN & KERRY
Our menu is a collaboration of great flavours, the best East of England produce, evolved into an ever changing menu by talented chefs who are passionate about what they do. When you marry all these ingredients the final product in mouth wateringly good. Accompany this with great wine and artisan gins from around the world.
Not forgetting beers and ale on tap and new single malts - perfect.

For those of you that have visted The Bicycle you will know our love for wine, and one of our favorite regions is beautiful South Africa. We have been visiting South Africa for many years tasting some of the best wines the country has to offer.
Ken Forrester Wine Farm has always been an outstanding, award winning vineyard. Never in our wildest dreams did we think the man himself would visit The Bicycle. Old Vine Reserve Chenin Blanc is one of the few wines that has been on our wine list since we opened back in 2014. Ken himself is not just passionate about wine he goes even further, the farm has a vision of sustainability using no herbicides or pesticides, pruning and harvesting by hand. This labour-intensive process offers employment to the local community, and he hopes goes some way to improving the quality of lives and a stable foundation for future generations.
The Evening will start at 7pm, Ken will explain each wine
8 wines in total will be tasted from all four of Ken's ranges.
